that was then, this is dumb

The smaller bonus checks that hit accounts across the financial-services industry this month are making it difficult to maintain the lifestyles that Wall Street workers expect, according to interviews with bankers and their accountants, therapists, advisers and headhunters.
“People who don’t have money don’t understand the stress,” said Alan Dlugash, a partner at accounting firm Marks Paneth & Shron LLP in New York who specializes in financial planning for the wealthy.

PEOPLE WHO DON’T HAVE MONEY DON’T UNDERSTAND THE STRESS

…of not having all the money?

Right.

Okay.

Sure.

I’m just sitting here considering whether it’s worth it to call Wells Fargo and ask for an explanation of how I’ve managed to earn less interest this month when money has only gone into my savings account. I’m considering arguing over pennies.

But I’m sure life is so hard when your bonus is 25% less than it used to be. Nevermind that it’s a bonus, and not even a decrease in your six-figure salary. If you’re a goddamn investment banker, why would you not have a savings? You shouldn’t be completely fucked over by not getting a bonus more than 3 times the average American’s salary. How is ANYONE supposed to be sympathetic about this? If anything, these people should have gained sympathy from this experience for the rest of us who have always had to consider how much things cost.

Nope. We just don’t UNDERSTAND what it’s like not to be able to afford the lives of our dreams.

Yeah.
